The publication summarizes the findings of the IVS (International Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) Service for geodesy & astrometry) working group on Galactic aberration (WG8). The WG8 was established to investigate issues related to incorporating the effect of Galactic aberration in IVS analysis. One of the specific goals was to recommend a Galactic aberration model to be applied by the IAU ICRF3 working group in the generation of the 3rd realization of the International Celestial Reference Frame (ICRF3). The geodetic reference frame VLBI estimates of the Galactocentric aberration constant from the different WG8 members are in the range 5.1 to 6.4 microarcsecond per year. The recommended value 5.8 microarcsecond per year was estimated directly in a global solution that used the ICRF3 solution data set: 1979 to May 2018. The ICRF realizes an ideal reference system, the International Celestial Reference System, by precise equatorial coordinates of extragalactic radio sources observed in VLBI programmes.
