Kniha obsahuje první český překlad hry Tita Maccia Plauta Curculio. Překlad, doplněný o latinský originál, je komentovaný a opatřený rozsáhlou předmluvou, která potenciálním čtenářům a inscenátorům přibližuje inscenační praxi římské komedie, Plauta jako komického autora, jazykovou a dramatickou stavbu hry i její pozdější recepci. Překlad vznikl ve spolupráci klasických filologů, odborníka na římské právo a teatroložky.

The volume contains the first Czech translation of Plautus’ Curculio in mirror edition with commentary and an extensive introduction discussing Roman palliate as a stage genre, life and work of Titus Maccius Plautus, language and poetics of the play and its reception in Middle Ages and beyond. The translation is a collaborative enterprise of classical philologists, a specialist in Roman law and a theatre historian.
