Text zkoumá paralely mezi tezemi manifestu „Proč potřebujeme naratologii středověku” Evy von Contzen a soudobou českou literární vědou zaměřenou na starší písemnictví. Následně načrtává potenciální ohniska inspirace, již může manifest vzbudit zejména na poli bádání o rukopisech (jehož důležitost v posledních letech stoupá) a ve spojení se zájmem o vztahy a vzájemné pronikání sakrální a profánní sféry ve středověké literatuře.

The essay „To the sources: Inspired by the Manifesto” explores points of contact between Eva von Contzen’s text “Why We Need a Medieval Narratology” and recent Czech literary scholarship concerned with the premodern era. Then it sketches potential foci of inspiration that can be sparked by this text especially in connection with (ascending) manuscript studies and interest in interplay between the secular and the sacred in the medieval literature.
