On October 2nd, 2019 Václav Vinš has received the IAPWS Helmholtz Award at the IAPWS Symposium “Chemistry and Mass Transport for Steam Generation” organized during the annual IAPWS meeting held in Banff, Canada. The award was given for achievements of Václav Vinš in the research of thermophysical properties of water and aqueous systems, in particular surface tension of metastable supercooled water and phase equilibira involving gas hydrates. After the award ceremony, Václav Vinš presented an invited talk. The award is given yearly by the International Association of Properties of Water and Steam (IAPWS) to a qualified researcher who is at most 15 years past the time of receiving his or her last earned degree. The purpose of the award is to recognize promising early-to-mid career scientists and engineers who are making significant contributions to, or defining new directions in the areas of research of interest to IAPWS.
