The article deals with the pertinence of the term oppida-culture and oppida civilisation. The creation of oppida transformed the interpersonal relations, i.e. the immaterial part of culture. The term oppida-culture is therefore not fully pertinent since the concept of archaeological culture refers principally to the material sphere. The term „oppida civilisation“ seems more appropriate though only in the very broad generally historic context and it strongly needs to be redefined according to the present state of knowledge.
