Raw biogas can be purified either by atraditional separation processes or membrane separation. Thetraditional methodsare in particular amine scrubbers, cryogenic distillation or cyclic high pressure adsorption. These separation processes are costly and technologically, energy-intensive and space-intensive, which is their biggest disadvantage. At present, they are successfully replaced by more environmentally friendly membrane processes that are less energy consuming, requiring no chemicals or additives for their operation and are additionally conceptually simple, compact and modular. Their operation can be easily adapted to changes in the composition, flow and pressure of the feed mixture.
