Publikace vyšla v edici “Věda kolem nás” v řadě “Výzvy a otázky”, která seznamuje čtenáře s aktuálními výzkumnými problémy i infrastrukturami vytvářenými k jejich řešení. Publikace shrnuje aktuální situaci v oboru úpravy pitné vody. Pojmenovává problémy, se kterými se úpravny vody potýkají v praxi, informuje o současném stavu poznání, který vyplývá z výzkumných aktivit vědců zabývajících se úpravou vody a snaží se o vyzdvižení nezbytnosti propojení výzkumu, politické sféry a praxe provozů úpraven vod.

The booklet has been published in a series “Science Around Us: Challenges and Questions”, which gives information of present research problems and infrastructures made for their solution. The booklet summarizes actual situation in the field of drinking water treatment. It names problems that water treatment plants face in practice, informs about present knowledge following from the research activities and points out a necessity of connection of research, politics and practical water treatment plant operation.
