Konference navázala na dvě předchozí setkání pracovní skupiny pro dějiny starší astronomie, která se před několika lety zformovala při Scuola Normale Superiore v Pise a která se konala v červnu 2015 v Pise, SNS, a v červnu 2016 v Benátkách, Univerzita Ca´Foscara, pořádáno v Biblioteca Marciana. Konference se aktivně zúčastnilo dvacet badatelů z Itálie, Španělska, Velké Británie, Francie, Německa, Bulharska, Turecka a České republiky. Z konference bude publikován sborník Stars in Ancient and Medieval Tradition.

The conference is a continuation of two precedent meetings of the working group for the history of ancient and medieval astronomy, which has formed originally at Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa and which were organized in Pisa, SNS (June 2015), and Venice, University Ca´Foscara, Biblioteca Marciana (June 2016). Twenty researchers from Italy, Spain, Great Britain, France, Germany, Bulgaria, Turkey and Czech Republic took an active part in the conference. The conference-proceedings Stars in Ancient and Medieval Tradition will be published.
