Studie se zabývá tím, jak humanistický básník Martin Rakovský nakládal s konceptem tzv. osudových period a jak byl tento koncept užíván a pozměňován učenci působícími na pražské univerzitě ve druhé polovině 16. století. Jednalo se o jeden z významných chronologických konceptů v luteránském dějepisectví, který se zakládal na Danielově proroctví a původně předvídal blízký zánik Svaté říše římské a konec světa.

The study focuses on the ways in which one of the most important chronological tools of Lutheran historical writing and eschatology - the so-called fatal periods that were based on Daniel’s prophecy and predicted originally the demise of the Holy Roman Empire and the End of teh World - was discussed by a humanist poet Martin Rakovský (1535-79) and modified during the second half of the sixteenth century by humanists at the University of Prague.
