Osteoporosis is a skeletal disorder characterized by low bone mass and deterioration of bone tissue, which leads to increased risk of fracture. Nowadays, there is no universally effective treatment. To date, new antiosteoporotic therapeutics have been predominantly studied in experimental animals. Development of in vitro model could improve the knowledge on dysregulation of bone cells signaling pathways responsible for osteoporosis. The combination of knowledge from the field of tissue engineering and bone remodeling models could serve as a baseline for development of such a model. The chapter give insight to the osteoporosis research problematics.
