Magnetic labelling of living cells is an attractive concept because it allows cellular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), enables dis-tal cell manipulation applicable to tissue-engineering techniques,or could be even used for magnetically assisted cell delivery to target organs in vivo. Therefore, novel approaches based on the application of external magnetic fields to increase the efficiency of magnetic cell labelling are desirable. This work proposes the application of pulsed magnetic fields for efficient cell labelling with iron oxide nanoparticles.
