This paper presents results of non-destructive testing of rock mass quality in the Jeroným Mine that is one of the most preserved examples of medieval mining in the central Europe. The Schmidt hammer rebound testing presented in this paper is one of possibilities how to investigate rock mass quality without visual damage. Almost all parts of underground spaces are mined out in granitic rocks and it is possible to document all of weathering grades of the granite rock mass at the locality. Two types of hammers were used for in situ testing and both types were found to be suitable for the rock mass characterization at the locality. In addition, rebound values were compared to results of other non-destructive method, namely the ultrasonic pulse velocities. Good correlation between both parameters proved that results of both methods are comparable for purposes of the rock mass quality evaluation.
