Téma transformace náboženství v postmoderní společnosti uchopuje De Groot pomocí dichotomie pevné a tekuté církve. V jednotlivých kapitolách popisuje různé hybridní formy církve, ať už na příkladu instituce kaplanství, oblasti psychoterapie či divadla. Jeho pohled je místy problematický, ale přesto je kniha přínosná pro současné bádání v sociologii náboženství.

De Groot views the transformation of the religion in the postmodern society through the dichotomy of solid and liquid church. In the chapters of his book, he describes different hybrid forms of church, using the examples of institution of chaplaincy, psychotherapy or theatre. Not without problems, however, the book is beneficial to readers interested in the sociology of religion.
