Článek je rozdělen na tři části – první popisuje intenzivní a dlouhotrvající projekt dokumentace historických a uměleckých památek v království Českém vedený Archeologickou komisí ČAVU, druhá se věnuje současnému vydávání ve své době nevydaných inventářů a konečně třetí je věnována osobě Jana Sedláčka (1848–1916), jednomu z autorů těchto soupisů. Součástí článku je edice Sedláčkova pracovního deníku z letních měsíců 1915 a 1916.

The article is divided into three parts. The first describes the extensive and long-standing project of documenting all the historical and art sights in the Kingdom of Bohemia led by the Archeology Commission of the Czech Academy of Science. The second part is about the present publication of previously unpublished inventories and finally, the third part of this article describes the life one of the authors of the inventories – Jan Sedláček (1848–1916). Part of the article is the editon of the diary of Jan Sedláček from the summers months 1915–1916.
