Abelova cena za matematiku je mezinárodní cena udělovaná norským králem za vynikající matematické výsledky. Její finanční ohodnocení je srovnatelné s Nobelovou cenou. V předkládané publikaci podáváme přehled nejdůležitějších výsledků laureátů prvních deseti Abelových cen.

In 1899, the famous Norwegian mathematician Sophus Lie proposed to establish an Abel Prize, when he learned that Alfred Nobel would not include a prize in mathematics among his five proposed Nobel Prizes. However, the first laureate got the Abel Prize in 2003. It is awarded by the Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters. We survey the major results of the recipients of the first fifteen Abel Prizes from 2003–2017. Each chapter contains a short biographical sketch of a particular laureate and his contribution to various fields of mathematics.
