Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are attractive candidates for therapy of retinal disorders. It was shown that MSCs were able to differentiate into the cells expressing retinal markers and produce various neurotrophic factors in the environment mimicking the retinal damage. Thus, MSCs can be used for treatment of degenerative, so far uncurrable, retinal diseases.
