    We testify different water soluble polymers (PEG, PAA, PVA) in the preparation of a stable Er(III)/Yb(III)/Li (I)/Nb(V) solution. The sol-gel method using PEG or PVP for the stabilization of Nb(V) represents one of few methods where Er3+/Yb3+: LiNbO3 films with good photoluminescence and also waveguiding properties were prepared.
