V roce 1825 se Tkadlíkovi splnil jeho umělecký sen a on se dostal do Říma. Kontakty s německou nazarénskou komunitou i studium starého umění mělo zásadní vliv na charakter jeho tvorby.
In 1825 Tkadlík came to Rome, where he got into contact with the nazarene community. The encounter, as well as the study of old art had an immense signifikance for his further development.
