Díky studiu na pražské Akademii Tkadlík získal základy klasické kreslířské techniky, ale také se dostal k novým dobovým konceptům akademické výuky, které vytvářely napětí mezi neoklasicistní tradicí a senzualistickými moderními proudy.
The schooling at the Prague Academy gave Tkadlík a classical draughtman´s sklil, but also introduced him to the changing concepts of academis instruction at that time. He got in touch with underlying artistic currents creating a tension between neo-classical tradition and its modernization towards sensualism and subjectivism.
