An internal rotary target can be used in accelerators for irradiation of thin solid layers of various materials with charged accelerated particles of the energies up to tens of MeV. The main part of the target is a water-cooled spherical cap on which a layer of irradiated material is deposited. An accelerated beam (up to 3kW power) hit tangentially at a small angle (~ 6°) the spherical target surface. A rotation of the target ensures uniform irradiation. The necessary effective cooling of the irradiated layer is due to coaxial cooling design and choice of target material (Al, Cu). The electrical insulation of the target body allows continuous monitoring of the beam current and the total charge during the irradiation period. The target construction enables a simple automatic removal of the target into the shielded container after irradiation which minimizes the radiation doses of the accelerator operating staff.
