Studie založená na recentních studiích o cenzuře polemizuje se zjednodušujícím liberálním názorem, že Komenského názory na cenzuru představují jeden z nejproblematičtějších bodů jeho filosofie. Ukazuje, že pojetí cenzury, jak se formovalo v raném novověku a jak je chápal Komenský, nebylo zdaleka identické s významem, který pojem získal později v 19. století. Komenského úvahy týkající se regulace tisku se pohybovaly spíše v sémantickém poli pojmu iudicium než licentia a konotovaly spíše expertní posudek než moc.

Based on recent studies on censorship, the study argues against the simplified liberal view that Comenius’s opinion on censorship is one of the most problematic parts of his philosophy. It shows that the meaning of censorship as it was formed in the Early Modern Period and also used by Comenius was by no means identical with the meaning that the term acquired later in the nineteenth century. Comenius’s considerations on the term censura ranged rather in the semantic field of iudicium, than in the field of licentia, and it had rather connotations of experts’ opinion, than the ones of power.
