At present, tokamak COMPASS is the only ITER-like geometry device that operates HFS RMP coils. In this work, fresh and unique experimental results of the HFS RMP field effect on ELMs are presented and compared to those of LFS RMP. It is shown that HFS RMP does not seem to induce density pump-out, unlike LFS RMP, while still causing ELM mitigation and affecting density gradient in pedestal as shown with Li-BES measurements. Measured magnetic plasma response to the RMP is compared to the one simulated by MARS-F and a satisfactory agreement is found.
