The paper deals with the use of the Macroscopic Particle Model (MPM) to determine the movement of a large spherical particle in a turbulent field in an open channel. Two cases are solved - in the first case the particle is fixed near the bottom of the channel, in the latter case the particles freely move with the flow. Large Eddy Simulation (LES) is used to simulate turbulent flow and to simulate particle motion two-way coupling (LES-MPM) is used.
