The paper discusses flows of heterogeneous slurries of various fractions of spherical particles tested in a 100-mm pipe at the Institute of Hydrodynamics of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Special attention is focused on formation of stationary deposit along the pipe invert. It was detected through visual observation during the experiments. Effects of particle size and volumetric solids concentration on deposition limit velocity is investigated. Modelling approaches to predicting mean velocity referring to formation of stationary bed are discussed.
