A frequently used technological solution for reducing time varying forces transmitted between the rotor and its frame consists in placing damping devices in the rotor supports. This is offered by magnetorheological squeeze film dampers. The performed analysis supported by results of computational simulations confirmes that application of smart and advanced materials in supports of rotors and shafts makes it possible to reduce the energy losses generated in the bearings during operation of rotating machines.
