Studie se zabývá užitím biblických citací v homiletickém cyklu Kázání XXI (1663) a v souvisejícím cyklu Historie o umučení (1631, 1663, 1757) Jana Amose Komenského. Historie o umučení je Komenského pokus o vytvoření pašijové evangelijní harmonie, je založena na evangeliu podle Matouše a Jana, podobně jako Manualník (1658) je zkrácena, v 31 % případů je dokonce kratší. Kázání XXI je pojato jako systematická homiletická čtyřstupňová biblická exegeze (části Text, Předpovídání, Tajemství, Naučení). Frekvenční analýza ukázala tři hlavní zdroje: prorocké texty Proroka Izaiáše, epištoly sv. Pavla a texty Jana Evangelisty, zejména Zjevení. Komenský výrazně omezil biblické hrozby a naopak akcentoval christologické aspekty biblických citací, Kázání XXI díky tomu působí výrazným útěšným dojmem s důrazem na nadějnou eschatologii.

This study deals with the usage of biblical quotations in the Sermon XXI homiletic cycle (1663) and the associated collection of relevant parts of the Gospels in the History of the Sufferings (1631, 1663, 1757) by Jan Amos Komenský, an attempt by Komenský to create a Gospel (Passion) harmony. The text, based on St. Matthew’s and John’s Gospel, has been abridged similarly as Manualník (printed 1658), the text of the History is the shortest in 31% of cases. Sermon XXI is a systematic biblical exegesis on a four-level exegesis (regular passages of Text, Predictions, Secrets, Morals). The frequency analysis indicates that Komenský based his exegesis on three main sources: the Prophet Isaiah - letters by the Apostle Paul, John the Evangelist to Christ (the Gospel, the Letters and the Revelation). Komenský used biblical quotations for a strong Christological version of the text, so the Sermon XXI cycle conveys a consolatory message with an extremely hopeful eschatological emphasis.
