The new wasteless route for pure silicon recovery from old photovoltaic panels was investigated. The low temperature synthesis of magnesium silicide from waste photovoltaic panels and magnesium scrap was successfully tested. Hydrolysis of prepared magnesium silicide for silicon hydrides production and their decomposition were performed. This process resulted in ultrapure silicon, hydrogen and magnesium phosphate fertilizer.
