A hybrid dynamical system is a dynamical system that shows both continuous and discrete state and behavior. In our talk we will discuss the usage of global optimization techniques for solving the problem of finding a trajectory that leaves a given set of states considered to be safe. Unlike other known methods, we do not restrict our search to trajectories of a certain bounded length. The algorithm combines local with global search for achieving both efficiency and global convergence, and exploits derivatives for efficient computation.
