Jako první příručka tohoto druhu pro češtinu i pro jiný slovanský jazyk slovník představuje z hlediska významu/funkce domácí i přejaté afixy (sufixy, prefixy, široce pojaté cirkumfixy) i četné části složených slov, jimž se někdy přiznává blízkost afixům a označení afixoidy. Tyto slovotvorné prostředky jsou charakterizovány korpusovými údaji o frekvenci jejich využívání. S pomocí slovníku je možné studovat systém afixů v závislosti na jejich frekvenci či produktivitě. Lze z něho vyjít při řešení otázek synonymie či kombinatoriky afixů, jejich návaznosti na povahu základu a mnoha dalších jevů; může se stát východiskem dalších kvantifikací v oboru slovní zásoby češtiny.

As the first manual of its type for Czech and for other Slavic language as well, the dictionary presents both vernacular and international affixes (suffixes, prefixes, broadly concepted circumfixes) and numerous parts of compound words that sometime are seen as standing close to affixes and are labelled as affixoids, regarding to notion/function of every affix/affixoid. These word-formation means are characterized by corpus data about frequency of their usage. Based on this dictionary, it is possible to solve questions about synonymy or combinational capabilities of affixes, their relation to the character of the formation base and about many other matters; it can provide a starting point to further quantifications within Czech lexis.
