The interaction of high gradient magnetic fields (HGMF) with living cells has recently garnered significant interest owing to a possibility to remotely drive cell machinery without chemical or biological agents. Magnetic gradient forces applied to a whole cell or its organelles from external magnetic fields may offer unique control of cellular endocytosis, motion, proliferation and differentiation as well as new opportunities for promising applications in nanomedicine. Here we present recent results from our study of interactions of static and oscillating HGMFs with different types of cells.
