The chemical structure, surface composition and optical properties of silicon dioxide (SiO2), lead oxide (PbO), and lead-silicate (PbO-SiO2) glasses have been studied. Pristine glass surfaces were prepared by fracturing of the glass rods under UHV condition. The surfaces were then irradiated by X-rays and electron beams with various doses in Kratos AXIS Supra and ADES-400 angular-resolved photoelectron spectrometer, respectively. High-energy resolution spectra of Si 2p, O 1s, and Pb 4f were consequently measured and atomic concentrations of the pristine (very low dose) and irradiated surfaces were evaluated.
