Jan Amos Comenius fostered pansophic, all-encompassing thinking in philosophy, theology, history, politics and education and became one of the important protagonists of the movement for universal reform. That is why today, in an age of increased globalisation, his works are the subject of renewed interest not only of historians and Comenius specialists but also of educationalists, philosophers, theologians, political theorists and literary scholars. Twenty-nine authors from eight countries interpret Comenius from different perspectives, offer many innovative insights and analyse his works and his tradition both in historical and in contemporary context.
