Ternary rubidium lead chloride is considered as suitable host for doping with rare earth elements for application as mid-IR solid state lasers. Its single crystals doped with Pr3+, Nd3+, and Yb3+ were grown in sealed quartz ampule by vertical Bridgman method. The optical properties of prepared crystals were studied on samples, which were cut and polished from the bulk and orientated according the its crystallographic structure.
