In this contribution we report on procedures that facilitate easy perhalogenation of basic 10-and12-vertex borane anion. New preparative methods for perhalogenation of the [B10H10]2- ion that produce [B10H10]2- species (X=Cl, Br,I) have been developed starting from old original procedures.
