The state-of-the-art nanotechnologies for probing of biologically important molecules in millions of individual cells are overviewed. Demonstrated are advanced ultrasensitive instrumentations for DNA sequencing and technologies for detection of molecules by specific fluorescence sensors, Fӧrster resonance energy transfers, surface enhanced Raman scattering, correlative light and electron microscopy and immuno assays by capillary electrophoresis.
