Soubor 23 studií k počátkům Univerzity Karlovy je rozdělen do tří tematických částí. První se zabývá počátky pražského obecného učení od jeho založení v roce 1348, jeho nejstaršími statuty, pečetěmi a kolejemi. Druhá část pojednává o statutech, studijním řádu, zkouškách, promocích a výročních disputacích artistické fakulty. Poslední část je věnována restauraci pražského vysokého učení po husitských válkách, nejstarším katalogům kolejních knihoven a počátkům humanismu na univerzitě v době poděbradské.

The present collection, divided into three thematic sections, includes twenty-one studies on the history of the University of Prague from its founding in 1348 to the 16th century. The first section is devoted to the birth of the university, to its first institutions, to the growth of the earliest colleges and to the victory of Reform party. The second part concentrates on the curriculum, examinations, graduations and annual disputations of the Faculty of Liberal Arts. Section three deals with the restoration of the university in Utraquistic Period (1433-1622).
