The ferritic high-Cr oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) steels were developed as structural tubing material for fast breeder reactors. These steels are nowadays structural materials of first choice for future nuclear power sources. ODS steels contain small amounts (about 0.25 wt.%) of homogeneously dispersed nano-size yttria particles, to increase the creep strength of the steel. The most common oxide dispersion in ODS steels is created by yttria adding due to very good thermal stability of these oxides. However there are possibilities to choose different oxides or create precipitates by different preparation route, i.e. internal oxidation of elements added to the steel composition. In this work mechanical and fracture behaviour of 9%Cr steels prepared of different chemical composition strengthened by yttria and alumina nano-precipitates was investigated.
