V letech 1716–1720 vyšly v Praze tiskem čtyři sbírky skladeb Josepha Brentnera (1689–1742), dvě z nich věnované duchovním áriím. Předkládaný první díl kritické edice Brentnerových duchovních árií přináší sbírku Harmonica duodecatomeria ecclesiastica, op. 1, obsahující dvanáct árií s instrumentálním doprovodem různého obsazení, a dále tři rukopisně dochované árie komponované na stejné texty jako árie skladatelovy první sbírky. Svazek obsahuje výhradně sopránové či altové árie.

Between 1716 and 1720, Joseph Brentner published four collections of his compositions in Prague, two of them devoted to sacred arias. The present volume contains critical edition of the first collection Harmonica duodecatomeria ecclesiastica, op. 1, which consists of twelve arias accompanied by a variety of instrumental combinations. Furthermore, the edition includes three arias preserved in manuscript, composed to the same texts as the arias published in the opus 1. The volume contains only arias for soprano or alto.
