Studie zkoumá dramatický překlad jakožto zdroj informací o kulturních paradigmatech doby, ve které jednotlivé překlady vznikaly. Jedná se o analýzu šestnácti českých překladů her Tita Maccia Plauta (Aulularia, Captivi, Menaechmi, Mercator, Miles Gloriosus, Mostellaria, Pseudolus, Rudens), které se liší svým zpracováním jednotlivých aspektů Plautovy palliaty (zejména jazykových hříček, historických reálií a tabuizovaných témat) podle doby, v níž byly pořízeny a podle potřeb cílového publika.

The chapter draws attention to the issue of dramatic translation as a source of understanding cultural paradigms of the time the given translations were made in. The study of sixteen different Czech translations of eight Plautine plays (Aulularia, Captivi, Menaechmi, Mercator, Miles Gloriosus, Mostellaria, Pseudolus, Rudens) illustrates different attitudes towards translating the meanings of the original to the target language depending on what is considered appropriate in the given historical period in terms of language norms, taboos, theatricality, etc.
