Sport not only refers to specific sports disciplines, but also to the symbolism of human destiny and behavior. A different role in this symbolism plays images of runners, swimmers, wrestlers (boxers), cyclists, car or motorcycle racers, tentatively flirting with death, or divers, expressing levitation aspiration of the interwar avant-garde. The study focuses on sports disciplines and the purpose of their representation in the Czech and foreign art.

Sport odkazuje nejen ke konkrétním sportovním disciplínám, ale také k symbolice lidského údělu a konání. Různou roli v tomto symbolickém zobrazení hrají motivy běžců, plavkyň, zápasníků (boxerů), cyklistů , automobilových nebo motocyklových závodníků, koketujících nezávazně se smrtí, nebo skokanů do vody, vyjadřujících levitační aspiraci meziválečné avantgardy. Studie se zaměřuje na tyto sportovní disciplíny a na smysl jejich ztvárnění v umění českém i zahraničním.
