In the present work we studied the photocatalyzed degradation of an endocrine disruptors dibuthylphtalate and bisphenol A, in the presence of goethite and carboxylic acids. Goethite, an iron oxohydroxide, is one of the most abundant iron oxides in the natural marine environment. Quite a lot of research work has been dedicated to the photodissolution of goethite in the presence of dicarboxylic acids, e.g. oxalic, salicylic, malonic, citric, phthalic. Less research interest has been shown toward the photodegradation of other organic compounds on iron oxohydroxides, e.g. goethite.
