Kapitola vychází z hypotézy, že historické disciplíny mohou fungovat jako specifický typ kolektivní paměti, tematizuje však zároveň komplexnost a ambivalentnost vztahu mezi komeniologickým bádáním a kolektivní pamětí v 19. a 20. století. Analýza se zaměřuje zejména na tři odborně-společenské praxe. Za prvé autor zkoumá jubilejní vědecké komemorace a proměny kultur vzpomínání od 60. let 19. století do 90. let 20. století. Za druhé se zaměřuje na jubilejní výstavy a muzea Komenského jako specifická institucionalizovaná místa paměti a na proces muzealizace komeniologie. Za třetí rozebírá mechanismy vytváření oborových kánonů v rámci bádání o Komenském, zejména úspěšnou kanonizaci Komenského v literární historii a problémy spjaté s kanonizací Komenského v dějinách filosofie.

This study takes as its starting point the hypothesis that historical disciplines can take over the function of collective memory and become a specific type of memory. The relationship between Comenius studies and commemorative practices in the 19th and 20th centuries is described as complex and ambivalent. The author focuses on three academic and social practices. First, he deals with academic commemorations and changing cultures of memory between the 1860s and the 1990s. Secondly, he discusses public exhibitions and Comenius museums as specific institutionalised sites of memory as well as deals with the process of musealisation of Comenius studies. Thirdly, he analyses mechanism of the creation of disciplinary canons in research on Comenius and focuses especially on the "successful" canonisation of Comenius in the field of literary history and the problems related to the canonisation of Comenius as philosopher within history of philosophy.
