Motivací pro potřebu zhodnocení reliéfu Oplakávání od brněnských minoritů v souvislosti s dokončením restaurátorských prací nejsou jen nové poznatky týkající se materiálně-technické povahy díla, ale také jeho umělecko-historické stránky. Po dosažení autentického stavu díla se ukazujue, že práce, která byla vytvořená pro komunitu minoritů byla výsledkem vzájemné interakce mezi objednavatelem, konceptorem a řezbářem a že podoba díla zohledňovala speciální požadavky ikonografické, liturgické a formální povahy.

The finishing of restoration works on the Mourning relief in the Minorite church in Brno is a motivation for the evaluation of conclusions concerning not only the material-technical features of the work, but also the art-historical ones. Now it is evident, that the work made for the community of minor brothers, was a result of mutual interaction between the ordering party, the conceptor, and the carver, and that it took into account the special demands of iconographic, liturgic and formal character.
