    CoSb3 – based skutterudites has been attracting research interest mainly because of their low thermal conductivity, high Seebeck coefficient and electrical conductivity. The dopation with Yb could help to reduce lattice thermal conductivity without altering the power factor [1]. We studied YbxCo4Sb12 layers prepared by pulsed laser deposition method (PLD). A high power pulsed excimer KrF laser (COMPexProTM 205 F, laser λ = 248 nm, τ = 20 ns) radiation was used as an external energy source to vaporize materials of the target and to deposit a thin film. Using PLD we prepared thin films on fused silica substrates and Si(100) substrates, dimension of 1 cm × 1 cm. The stoichiometric Yb0,19Co4Sb12 target was prepared by hot pressing method.
