In this thesis we study thin metal layers as possible platform for simple detector for thiolated compounds. This device can be used for simple detection by monitoring change of resistivity, or can be as well used as column for catching thiolated compounds from complex matrix and their preconcentration by controlled release to elution buffer by electrochemical desorption. For enhancing binding capacity of such device, three novel protocols for producing porous gold layers were developed. Such porous gold layers were also successfully used for electrochemical oxidation of glucose without need of any enzyme reactant. Such electrochemical glucose sensor exhibit good limit of detection and linearity in whole range of physiological concentrations.
