Otakaru Ostrčilovi bylo devatenáct let, když složil své písně Heidenröslein, Gefunden, Amalia a Die Nacht ist feucht und stürmisch na texty Johanna Wolfganga Goetha, Friedricha Schillera a Heinricha Heina. V celém Ostrčilově díle jsou to jediné čtyři vokální skladby, v nichž skladatel komponoval na německý – a vůbec jiný než český – text. Sice jde o čtyři samostatné písně, ale spojuje je němčina, doba vzniku a také fakt, že z Ostrčilovy písňové tvorby pouze tyto čtyři písně dosud nevyšly tiskem. Vydáváme je tedy společně v jednom svazku pod titulem Písně na texty německých básníků.

Otakar Ostrčil was nineteen years old when he composed his songs Heidenröslein, Gefunden, Amalia, and Die Nacht ist feucht und stürmisch to texts by Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Friedrich Schiller, and Heinrich Heine. In Ostrčil’s entire oeuvre, these are the only four vocal works he composed to a text in German – or in any language other than Czech. Although the four songs were not composed as a cycle, they have in common the German language, the period when they were written, and that fact these are the only four songs by Ostrčil that have not yet appeared in print. We are publishing them together in a single volume titled Songs to German Poems.
