Rod Buška (z Velhartic) se poprvé objevuje s predikátem „z Velhartic“ r. 1318. Poslední zmínka s tímto predikátem je datována počátkem 15. století, kdy se hrad Velhartice už dostal do držení pánů z Hradce. Nejvýraznější kariéru udělal Bušek mladší z Velhartic, který se r. 1355 stal hejtmanem v Nových Čechách (v Bavorsku). Kartotéky (genealogická a topografická) českého historika Augusta Sedláčka jsou hodnotnými informačními zdroji, které umožňují rekonstruovat sociální vzestup některých rodin nižší šlechty, jako byli např. páni z Velhartic.

The family of Bušek (of Velhartice) appears for the first time with the predicate “of Velhartice” in 1318. The last mention of this predicate can be found at the beginning of 15th century, when the Velhartice castle has already become a possession of the lords of Hradec. The most outstanding career was made by Bušek the Younger of Velhartice, who in 1355 became an officer-in-chief (Hauptmann) of New Bohemia (in Bavaria). The genealogic and topographic card files of the Czech historian August Sedláček are valuable information sources that make it possible to restore the history of social ascent of several lower nobility families, such as the lords of Velhartice.
