Výstava byla závěrečným výstupem projektu aplikovaného výzkumu Obnova buquoyské kulturní krajiny: záchrana movitého kulturního dědictví jako báze pro obnovu paměti místa a kulturní identity Prezentovala hlavní aspekty a dochovaný obrazový materiál spjatý s uměleckým mecenátem hraběte Jiřího Jana Buquoye, a to jednak v kontextu rodové tradice, jednak v kontextu uměleckého mecenátu v období romantického historismu. Výstava sestávala z devíti tematických bloků: rodová portrétní galerie, výtvarné ambice Jiřího Jana Buquoye a jeho předků, romantické transformace panství Nové Hrady, vznik a podoba hradního muzea na Rožmberku, výtvarníci ve službách Jiřího Jana Buquoye, městská sídla, severočeské panství Červený Hrádek, lovecký zámeček Žofín, hrad Hauenštejn / Horní Hrad.

The exhibition was organized in autumn 2015 by the Institute of Art History of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in collaboration with the Aleš South-Bohemian Gallery in Hluboká nad Vltavou (12 September–6 December 2015) as a final output of the five-year research project Rescuing Memory: the Restoration of Buquoy Property and its Place in Czech Cultural Identity. It presented the Count Georg Johann Buquoy (1814-1882) as a significant patron of the arts in the era of Romantic Historicism in Central Europe. The display comprised nine topics: the Buquoy family – the portrait gallery of predecessors; artistic ambitions of Georg Johann Buquoy and his predecessors; Romantic transformations of the Nové Hrady estate; the origin, the programme and the aim of the Rožmberk castle museum; artists in the service of Georg Johann Buquoy; residences of the Buquoy family in Prague and Vienna; Červený Hrádek estate; hunting lodge Žofín / Sofienschloss; Hauenstein castle / Horní Hrad.
