    The nanocomposite of titanium dioxide coupled with CuSe was prepared by homogenous hydrolysis of TiOSO4 with urea in an aqueous solution – an environmentally friendly and effective synthetic method. The samples were characterized using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), UV/Vis spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, electron microscopy (SEM, TEM, AFM) and by determination of surface area (BET) and porosity (BJH). A diffuse reflectance spectroscopy was used to estimate band-gap energies. Photocatalytic activity was estimated by degradation of azo dyes (RB5) in an aqueous slurry under UV and visible light irradiation.
