Three new springtail species Megalothorax carpaticus Papáč & Kováč, 2013, Megalothorax hipmani Papáč & Kováč, 2013 and Megalothorax tatrensis Papáč & Kováč, 2013, and millipede Hylebainosoma gulickai Tajovský, Mock & Papáč, 2014 have been discovered in caves of Slovakia. They are the first cave obligate representatives of the genus Megalothorax, Hylebainosoma in the Western Carpathians. By their miniature size (body length of adults 0.4-0.6 mm) springtails of the genus Megalothorax belong to the smallest troglobiotic arthropods. The individuals were collected preferably on surface of standing water and occasionally also on remains of decaying wood. Specific features are associated with mode of their life in cave environment (larger body, elongated claws) not observed in surface congeners. Troglomorphic millipede Hylebainosoma gulickai was discovered in five caves of the Tisovský kras karst area. It is the endemic troglobiotic millipede with the northernmost occurrence in Central Europe. The new species is completely depigmented, eyeless, and it is restricted to subterranean environment.
